Since 2017, Gators for Refugee Medical Relief has led the effort to raise resources and awareness for in-need refugees and their families, locally and abroad.

Our Mission

Almost 80 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes worldwide- the highest level of displacement that’s ever been recorded. Nearly 30 million of these people are refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18. They have had to flee their country because of persecution, war, violence, etc. and cannot safely return home.

Our organization has been focused on aiding the worldwide refugee crisis through concrete actions. We provide medical, educational, and advocacy-based aid to refugee communities in Gainesville and Jacksonville to ease their transition and resettlement. By providing in-person and virtual educational resources to refugee communities, we are able to ease their transition to the U.S. This effort also serves as an opportunity to educate ourselves and diversify our thinking through personal experiences. By arranging fundraising efforts that financially support our local communities, as well as refugee supporting non-profit organizations around the world, we are able to assist those who are in need of humanitarian aid and play a role in changing lives for the better.

I joined GRMR because, while any organization can simply just say “we advocate for refugees”, GRMR is one of the few to actually take the initiative to directly impact refugees.
